Education Programs

We grow farmers.

Our educational programs offer the opportunity to connect with the land on many levels. We have partnerships with our member businesses who offer internships and farmer incubation experiences for budding new agrarians. We also host learning opportunities for an assortment of skills related to the ecology and culture of food.

Farmhands, our childrens' education program is an excellent opportunity for kids of all ages to experience what local small-scale farming is all about. From watershed to foodshed, young people will come to understand the dynamic processes that put food on the table.

Adult workshops offer hands-on instruction in sustainable living skills ranging from organic gardening and food preparation / preservation to natural building techniques and renewable energy systems. Seminars in earth literacy guide participants in the exploration of their intimate connection with the natural world.

Internships in organic farming and gardening offer 3-6 month training programs in the community supported agriculture model. These internships provide aspiring young farmers the means to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to create their own sustainable farming enterprise.

Volunteer Opportunities give local residents the chance to engage with the land and farmers that provide their food supply.
