Elements Mountain Compost (EMC) in Salida, CO has been helping businesses and residents reduce their carbon footprint by converting organic waste into local, nutrient-rich compost products since 2014. Come learn more about the benefits of compost application on soil health, community composting, EMC’s local composting operations, and new initiatives that are underway to increase organic waste diversion in Chaffee County.

Glen Egbert grew up on an organic farm in Western Pennsylvania where he gained a deep appreciation for the connection of humanity to the planet that sustains us. Since leaving the farm at eighteen years old he has pursued his curiosity through various work adventures including outdoor education, building capacity for cultural competency and technology in public schools, and the development of web based software tools. Following his passion for climate action and sustainability, Glen has spent the last 6 months working with Elements Mountain Compost to increase the usage of organic waste collection services and to develop new end uses for compost based soil products in Chaffee County.
