Community & School Farm

Since 2012, the Community & School Farm has grown local fruit and vegetables for Salida School District cafeterias. The farm now provides fresh produce to six school district campuses, the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, and select local restaurants. The four-acre farm includes both raised and in-ground beds, multiple high tunnels, and a geodesic dome for year-round production. The farm is open to visitors and volunteers Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 am to noon April through October. Sign up to volunteer with Guidestone through Chaffee Volunteers.

Community Gardens

Guidestone manages three community gardens in Salida: Sonia’s Garden, located east of downtown Salida at the Touber Building, Crestone Mesa neighborhood community garden, and the Salida Community Garden located on the corner of 2nd and I Street. Community gardeners can register here to reserve a bed beginning February 15th. Each garden has tools and water available onsite and is fenced from deer.

Plant Sale

Each spring, Guidestone grows a variety of starts for home gardeners for sale in May and June. We offer a wide selection, from frost-hardy to heat-loving vegetables and herbs to perennial and pollinator-friendly plants. Home gardeners can pre-order their selections on our website for pick up at Guidestone’s Community & School Farm.
