Growing Guides: Growing Produce at High Elevation
Friday breakout session
Old Fort Lewis at Hesperus
Beth brings many years of experience in agriculture to the Old Fort. After serving as an instructor in the FLC Agriculture and Biology Department for 17 years and a researcher for a Colorado State University Agriculture Experiment Station, she became the Director of the Old Fort at Hesperus in 2010. Beth has worked with beginning farmers since 2010 developing the need, concept and model for the incubator program. She has extensive experience providing business planning support, financial planning and Quickbooks education, providing food safety and farm recordkeeping education, and assisting farmers with accessing USDA programs. Much of her teaching and technical assistance experience includes underserved producers, especially rural, women, and BIPOC producers. Since 2012, Beth has provided assistance to thirteen different startup farm incubator programs in CO, NM and WY, and serves on the leadership team for the FIELD network.
