Local Food to Institutions Panel, with Monica Pless, McKenna Pullen, Andrea Moore, David Grant, Nick Chambers, Al Stone
Friday, March 11th, 2022 1:40-2:40 pm
Here are some questions we will discuss:
- What products have you successfully sourced locally that have worked well for institutions?
- Do you have products or get requests from institutional buyers for local products that you haven’t been able to find?
- What do you see as the biggest challenges for your operation increasing local purchasing?
- What makes for a good purchasing relationship with a local producer? What makes your life easier?
Our panel consists of Andrea Moore, from the Salida School District; David Grant, from the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, McKenna Pullen from the Farm-to-School Initiative at Colorado Department of Education; and Al Stone and Nick Chambers from Valley Roots Food Hub. We’re excited to have hear all of these perspectives.
The institutional buyers panel was supported by the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Its contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of the USDA or CDA.
