Rick Bieterman — As a historic ranch manager and preservationist, Rick has had a leading role in several preservation and conservation-focused projects. Most recently, Rick completed an USDA – NRCS grant funded project to dramatically improve irrigation efficiency at Watershed Ranch. Currently, Rick is also the lead point of contact on a groundbreaking federally funded private forests fire mitigation and wildlife habit restoration project in partnership with the National Forest Foundation and The Bird Conservancy of the Rockies; as well as a grant-funded soils conservancy project with the Central Colorado Conservancy and the Colorado State Extension. Rick has served on the Town of Buena Vista Recreation Advisory Board for over 5 years, as well as the Water Advisory Board, where he is leading Buena Vista’s first initiative to incorporate conservation practices into public assets. Prior to moving to Colorado in 2016, Rick lived in Chicago and was a high school physics, geology, and environmental science teacher.
